We have arrived home back after a long but rewarding journey to the Ladies Kennel Association Championship Show in the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. We brought Ir Ch Gulliagh Zest and his son G Sequoia to be exhibited under Mr R McCoy, who had a large entry of over 90 Irish Wolfhounds. G Sequoia was shown first in Post-Graduate Dog, which he won. Then his father was exhibited in Open Dog, in which he also won. And then to cap off a wonderful day, G Sequoia won the Reserve Challenge Certificate.

At the IWCNI Show, our dogs were well handled by Ian and our friend, Stephen Minogue. Under  judge Mrs. Betty Deemer from the USA, we once again did successfully. We won Post Graduate Dog with Gulliagh Sequoia, Limit Dog with G Niadh, Undergraduate Bitch with G Scarlet, Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Show with G Jardis and second in an excellent Open Bitch with our Ir Ch G Zamora. Another 'Circuit' of shows over, and one new champion. At the first show in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, our Gulliagh Zamora once again won the Green Star Bitch and Best of Breed under judge Mr L Dehaes of Belgium. That Green Star made her the third champion of the litter, along with our Ir Ch Gulliagh Zest and Int & Lux Ch Gulliagh Zephyr dit Zurian, who lives in France.

The next show at Killarney, Co. Kerry was also successful for us. Our Ir Ch Gulliagh Zamora once again won the Bitch Green Star and Best of Breed under Mrs A Cuthbert of Ireland.

So overall it can be called a fantastic group of shows for our Ir Ch G Zamora.

14/8/04

We went to the Hound Association of Ireland today, the first of the 'Munster Circuit' shows. It was very successful for us, our Gulliagh Zamora won the Green Star Bitch and the Best of Breed under judge Mr Jouko Leiviska of Finland. And then G Zamora went on to win Best in Show under American Mr Rick Beauchamp. So this eventful day ends and we go on our holiday now to the South of Ireland, encompassing more shows.

Today, the first All-Breed Championship Show under Irish Kennel Club rules was held in Northern Ireland. This historic occasion was made possible due to the Northern Ireland Peace Agreement, the 'Good Friday Agreement'. Now Northern Irish dog clubs can choose to be under Irish Kennel Club or British Kennel Club rules. The association with the honour of hosting this unique event was the Bangor and North Down Canine Club, which achieved a large entry of just short of 1500. The Irish Wolfhound judge was Mr Glenway Dymock (Australia/UK). He gave Gulliagh Zapata the Dog Green Star, and went on to give G Nedine Reserve Green Star Bitch behind Zapata's sister, G Zamora, who went on to win Best of Breed. It was a most successful day for us as we only bought 3 Irish Wolfhounds, hopefully other Northern Irish Dog Shows will give us similar success.

24/7/04

At Dundalk and District Championship Show, our Gulliagh Zapata won another Dog Green Star, under Mrs A Mathers.

Meanwhile our Dachshund, Candy vom Gesselner Feld, again won her Bitch Green star, this time under Mr Philip O'Brien, and we believe it's a major too! And she is only 14 months.

3/7/04

Today, we went to the Bray and District Championship show, where our 13 month German Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund import, Candy vom Gesselner Feld, won her first Green Star at only her second show in Ireland. We hope this is the beginning of much more success with little Candy!

We have just returned from the Netherlands, and the EIWC biennial Congress. This time we brought with us our Gulliagh Sequoia, our first foray into Continental Europe with an Irish Wolfhound. The trip was a great success.  "Rhett" was the only representative from the British Isles. He was entered in the 12 to 15 months class in the Youth and Veteran Show on the first day, and in the 9 to 18 months class in the CAC Show on day two. We are delighted to say that he was placed first in both. Actually, the only Wolfhound to win his class on consecutive days. The judge on the first day was Mr P Lundstrom and M F Maison on the second.

Befrore the Congress, we  had travelled into Germany and collected a new Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund, or Zwergteckel,  to join our existing Babóg. Her name is Candy vom Gesselner Feld, she is 11 months old and quite beautiful. She will shortly be will be making her debut in the show ring.

When just getting used to one litter of puppies we get another. These are out of our Gulliagh Narnia by US Ch Rosslare's Sandor (BOS-IWCA-2001) owned by Ms. G Littlewood in New Jersey, USA. This litter was by means of imported frozen semen. There are 10 puppies, 6 bitches and 4 dogs. The mother and puppies are all healthy and happy. G Zamora's pups continue to grow and thrive, they are starting to move about now.

We had a great start to the new year, with the birth of a new litter, by our successful show dogs, Gulliagh Zamora and Gulliagh Niadh. There are eight wonderful puppies, 4 dogs and 4 bitches. All are healthy with ravenous appetites, and the mother Zamora is caring and managing fine.
